H I ! I ’ M L A Y N I E .

I started baking as many do: with my grandma. I was lucky to have amazing bakers on both sides of my family. My grandma Ogo made her signature sweet bread every day, plus traditional Croatian breads and pastries and plenty of birthday cakes and pies. My grandma Lala made a beyond impressive array of Christmas cookies every year (often starting her preparations months in advance) and one of my all-time favorites, poppyseed swirl bread.

I have been baking professionally for close to a decade, since my first-ever job at a bakery in my hometown of St. Louis, Missouri.

Upon moving to Boulder, I worked on the pastry team at Frasca Food & Wine, then moved on to run the pastry program at Boxcar Coffee. Currently, you can find me making desserts & more with Meadow Lark Farm Dinners across various farms in Boulder County all summer long.

My approach to baking has a heavy emphasis on the seasons, whole grains, and fresh or preserved fruits & herbs. I like to decorate with dramatic swooshes of buttercream, seasonal fruit, and fresh flowers. Check out my gallery or my Instagram for some examples.

I proudly partner with Boulder County farmers & millers to make my cakes special. Your cake is likely to include seasonal fresh flowers from Artemis Flower Farm, freshly milled flour from Moxie, and seasonal fruit from Fruit Fruits Organic or Speedwell Farm & Garden, to name a few! As much as I can, I source ingredients seasonally and locally through Boulder’s amazing farm stands and markets.
